Leo Forster started the final round of the first RX150 championship with the points lead and became the first driver to win a championship for the ‘off-road buggies’ after winning the final round. Marc Scott was fastest in the first and third heats, his opening 2m50.502s shot also standing as the class FTD. Forster was fastest in the third heat, qualifying second for the A final alongside Scott with Tom Keet, the third protagonist in the championship battle, completing the front row starters.
Scott led the A final but after a couple of laps on the front of the field came under increasing pressure from Forster who then took the lead in the third lap. While Forster increased his lead, Scott found himself challenged by Keet who and Chris Smith. Keet managed to pass Scott to take second place but Scott held off Smith’s last lap approaches to retain third place.
Brendan Kelly shared his Rx150 with Jess Gwynne during the qualifying heats, Gwynne unable to race her own car as it had been stolen along with the trailer containing it the night before the event. Gwynne qualified fourth for the A final, but was unable to take up the place as Kelly started the car in the final in which he finished fifth. Kevin Feeney and Larry Sargent completed the finishers.
